The client was walking along with her daughter in a shopping centre. Daughter needed to go to the bathroom. On the way to the public restrooms he client and her daughter walked down a hallway and the client slipped on water and landed her coccyx
Follow-up treatment
The client was hospitalised and treated for a dislocated and severely injured her coccyx. The hospital had first attempted a hormone injection treatment to manipulate the coccyx.
Unfortunately, over time the treatment was regular but not effective. Medical staff then decided the best practice it to remove her coccyx.
Lifestyle impact
The client was in constant pain and was not able to sleep- even with the painkillers. The client found her relationships depreciate which lead to the breakdown of her husband. The client had to amend the custody issues to accommodate her injuries. Her children do not currently live with her as she is not able to walk without pain, let alone everyday household tasks.
The client had not been able to work as she is required to stand and serve customers all day which would have been impossible with her injuries.
Final Compensation Settlement
Investigations carried out by the plaintiff’s lawyer showed that the water came from a small leak in one of the pipes above. Reports show that centre management received a report from one of their employee’s regarding the leak and the hazards implicated.
The defendant was found liable for the water hazard and it was their responsibility to fix the problem to take away the hazard or at last have caution signs to warn the public of the hazard. The client was awarded $XY for her injuries, pain and suffering, loss of income and medical expenses.
